Hi, I'm Brooke

National Merit Scholar. Top 1% Test Scorer. Strategy-first tutor.

I help students cut through the noise and focus on what actually moves SAT and ACT scores.

Over the course of several years, I spent a lot of time studying the SAT and PSAT — working through prep books, practice tests, and nearly every major resource available. Along the way, I started noticing a pattern: while there's a lot of information out there, not all of it is equally helpful at the moment students actually need it.

What makes the biggest difference tends to be a smaller set of recurring patterns, strategic decisions, and efficient approaches. That's where I focus my teaching — helping students identify what matters most and use their time intentionally.

Why Strategy Matters

The SAT and ACT aren't just tests of knowledge — they're tests of how students approach unfamiliar problems under time pressure.

Of course, a solid foundation in math and grammar is important. But the difference between scores like a 1200 and a 1400 usually isn't about learning more content. It's about recognizing question types, knowing where to start, and avoiding the common traps that appear again and again.

That's why my approach emphasizes strategy alongside content. Instead of asking students to work through hundreds of pages of material, I focus on helping them understand how the test is designed, how to make efficient decisions, and how to use tools like Desmos thoughtfully and effectively.

A Perspective Students Relate To

Because I took these tests relatively recently, I remember what the experience feels like — the pressure, the timing challenges, and the frustration when preparation doesn't seem to translate into higher scores. That perspective shapes how I tutor.

Sessions are collaborative and practical. We look closely at mistakes, identify patterns, and build systems students can rely on — so they're not just solving one question correctly, but developing an approach they can use across the entire test.

Why the Digital SAT Changes the Game

The Digital SAT is meaningfully different from the paper version. It's shorter, adaptive, and allows Desmos on the entire math section.

When students learn how to use those features strategically, math becomes less about lengthy calculations and more about clear thinking and smart decision-making. For many students, that shift alone leads to faster progress and greater confidence.

Who I Work With Best

I work best with students who are willing to engage in the process and reflect on how they approach problems. My goal isn't to overwhelm students with work, but to help them prepare efficiently with a clear plan.

Many students come to me feeling unsure about what to focus on or frustrated by prep that hasn't paid off. Helping them find clarity — what matters, what doesn't, and how to move forward — is where this approach tends to make the biggest difference.
